Head Coach: David Dinger David Dinger takes over the Heritage Baseball program following an incredible successful 31 year coaching career in Tennessee. Coach Dinger was a multi-sport star at Lookout Valley High School graduating in 1983. Upon graduating, Coach Dinger began his collegiate career at Cleveland State Community College where he served as one of the team's captains and also earn All-TJCAA honors. After completing a successful junior college career, he completed his collegiate career playing at David Lipscomb University, where he also served as the team captain from 1986-1987. Coach Dinger began his coaching career at Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1988 before becoming the Head Baseball Coach at Boyd-Buchanan High School in 1989. In 1990 Coach Dinger began a successful career at Lookout Valley serving as Head Baseball Coach from 1990-2011. While at Lookout Valley, Coach Dinger served as the Head Football Coach for seven years and served as an assistant football coach for nineteen years. Coach Dinger also served as the Head Softball Coach from 2015-2018. Over the course of his career he's accumulated many honors such as: 549 wins / 2018 Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Inductee / 11 District Coach of the Year Awards / 4 time Times Free Press Coach of the Year / 9 District Championships / 5 Region Championships / 4 State Tournament appearances / 2015 District Softball Coach of the Year. Academically, Coach Dinger earned a Business Administration degree in 1985 from Cleveland State before attaining his BS degree in Math Education. Coach Dinger pursued and achieved advanced degrees, earning his Masters Degree form Cumberland University and then acquired his Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. Coach Dinger and his wife Many have two daughters and two sons.
Assistant Coach: Cody Lones
Coach Lones is joining the Heritage Baseball staff after being the Head Baseball Coach at Lakeview Middle School. Cody Lones, Heritage High School alumni, 2009, was a part of the inaugural baseball and football programs here at HHS. After high school, Cody graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he degreed in Exceptional Education. In 2011, Cody began his coaching tenure at Heritage with the softball program as an assistant coach. While coaching softball from 2011-2013, the program made the State Playoffs each year. In 2011 and 2012, the program finished historic seasons in the Final Four of the State Tournament. However, in 2013, the team finished Runner-Up in the State Tournament with a 34-9 record on the season. In 2014, Cody joined the football staff as an assistant coach. During his time with the General football program, they made the playoffs as well as won the first playoff game in school history. The football team made the playoffs 4 out of the 5 years he coached. In 2018, Cody served as the Head Coach for the Lakeview Middle School baseball team and made great strides restoring a successful baseball program. Cody and his wife Emily have a daughter, Jovie, and are expecting a son in early February. Coach Lones is eager to join the HHS Baseball coaching staff and continue the successful program that is already established here at Heritage. Go Generals!
